David is a data science leader experienced in building and leading highly engaged data science teams, and has numerous successes envisioning, developing and commercializing analytics and AI in medical device, pharma, tech and insurance industries.
David leads data science for Canary Medical, whose implanted sensors provide novel data that improves remote patient monitoring and enables advancements in medical AI. Currently focused on digital health for total knee replacements, one of the most common surgical procedures in the US, David is harvesting insights from the world's first implanted orthopedic sensors. The goal is to soon improve the outcomes for hundreds of thousands of patients each year. He likes to say, "AI is math; we build AI with a heart."
Previously, David was Chief Data Officer of Medidata Solutions. During his 6 year tenure he led the creation of numerous AI and analytic products including Medidata Synthetic Control Arm™ and a suite of operational analytics that make clinical trials faster, more accurate and less expensive.
David has a B.Sc. in Biometry & Statistics from Cornell University and an M.A. in Statistics from Columbia University. He lives in New York City with his wife, Miyoung, and two children.
